Key stats

  • Hit 100% on target occupancy in year 1
  • Increased capacity of the nursery by 46%
  • Achieved ‘Outstanding’ with Ofsted in our first inspection

St Dunstan's College is a co-educational independent day school in Catford, south-east London, England for children from 3-18 years. Since its foundation in 1888, the school has seen many additions being made to the original Victorian building and in 2016 extended its services to providing a nursery within the Pavilion Grounds.

In December 2018 we were contacted by the Bursar at St Dunstan’s College regarding the operation of their onsite Nursery. They were looking to outsource the provision to a partner with Early Years expertise and a record of accomplishment of operating a nursery adjoined to an education establishment. We were awarded the contract in January 2019 and started the engagement with the team to offer reassurance, alleviate any fears and build relationships as part of the TUPE process. We took over the running in August 2019 with 19 extraordinary team members joining the family.

During the transition our key points of focus were:

  • Group & one to one meetings with the team
  • Alignment of current policies and practice to meet our standards.
  • Induction and training for the team
  • Full training and mentoring given to the Manager and senior team
  • Full governance audit against our standards and Ofsted compliance
  • Action plan implemented with the management team

Since Jubilee joined our family, this is what we have achieved:

Financially

  • In year 1 occupancy increased by 14%, reaching the goal of 40 full time spaces.
  • Increased capacity from 40 place to 74 places
  • Projected year 3 return of £108,000

Operationally

  • During our first inspection we received an “Outstanding” from Ofsted
  • Implemented an outdoor learning programme
  • Introduced a library system to enhance language development and My Happy Mind wellness programme.
  • Improved communication with parents, implementing ParentZone App, parent’s evenings and parent workshops covering key topics.
  • Implemented new billing system and processes to increase efficiencies and provide a better parent experience.
  • Set up a workplace nursery for St Dunstan’s staff members, providing increased savings for both the colleagues and parents

"Tinies has operated our Nursery since August 2019, on a partnership model with us. This partnership allows us to focus on the school, knowing that the Nursery children are in safe hands and the Nursery is growing. Having a partner, you can trust and grow with was of upmost importance for us. It was particularly important that we worked with a company that would value the team and nurture them as we would. My Ohana (previously Tinies) standards are as high as our own, and we are delighted that this partnership adds value for us, the children and the team."
