Book a tourJubilee Nursery is located inside the Jubilee Pavilion, in the beautiful grounds of St Dunstan’s College. We are delighted to have been assessed as an Outstanding provider by Ofsted, which reflects our drive to provide a stimulating and caring environment for children that supercharges them for their future learning experiences.
The nursery has four main rooms (spread over two floors), each assigned to a different age group. We also have an enclosed garden area and access to the Pavilion playing fields, which adds up to a rich environment for both learning and playtime.
Safety is one of our top priorities and we are very proud to have been awarded the Millie’s Mark accreditation by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) in association with the Department for Education and Millie’s Trust. This recognises us as a setting that goes above and beyond in meeting Paediatric First Aid requirements by having the whole nursery team trained, rather than nominated individuals.
Our curriculum
My Ohana has developed its own exclusive science-based curriculum that has been inspired by the work of some of the greatest minds in education (along with the experience and expertise of our own people) and benchmarked against Development Matters and Birth to 5 Matters. While our daily programmes are always well prepared, our child-led ethos means that any activities end up where the children take them, sparking even more excitement, creativity and conversation.
Our approach
We believe that we can make the biggest difference to a child’s early development by working hand-in-hand with their parents and carers. Together, we can supercharge their future in school, work and the wider world. After all, our early childhood experiences help to shape most of what makes us ...well, us! We promise to work with you in a caring partnership to nourish every aspect of your little one’s wellbeing, encompassing their minds, bodies and understanding of the world. We call it their wholebeing.
Extra activities
These are offered alongside our three core enrichment programmes: myHappymind, the Nursery Library and Outdoor Learning.
Each week, all age groups take part in one of our Bilingual Beats classes. This is a 30 minute interactive Spanish music session led by a native teacher-musician. The Bilingual Beats classes involve the teacher playing live music and giving the children the chance to try a range of instruments. As well as being fun and engaging, the classes help the children to develop their music and language skills.
Our ethos
Children are complex characters who learn by processing and making sense of their many different experiences. Their learning is therefore not compartmentalised. In recognition of this, our ethos involves nurturing the child’s ‘wholebeing’, which we see as being made up of three pillars: Mind, Body and World. In practice, this means we work hard to create a learning environment in which the children feel free to explore, think for themselves and express their thoughts (Mind). We lay the groundwork for future healthy lifestyles, using routine and repetition to form good habits (Body). And we help to raise their awareness of different people, places and ways to live (World).
More about our ethosWhat we value most
Family is a big deal for us – because when it comes to raising and nurturing children, we’re all in this together. You want the best for your child, and so do we. In fact, we can’t think of a more important job than the work we do. So you can be sure we will do all it takes to rise to the challenge, with energy, enthusiasm, clear communications and that all-important teamwork approach.
More about our valuesNutrition
We work closely with our caterers to ensure the children in our care eat healthy, well-balanced meals, while accommodating any dietary needs, choices or special requirements. We rotate our menus regularly to make the best use of fresh seasonal ingredients and serve a range of dishes from around the world to introduce the children to new tastes, textures and flavours.
